Did you know: over 60% of Australian travellers think a ‘great location’ is the most important feature of a hotel?

Late last year, Medina Apartment Hotels conducted a survey to gain insights from our guests and Australian leisure travellers about what they love about staying in hotels and travelling. We thought we would share some of the results with you:

- 52% of respondents thought the best thing about being away from home was soaking up a new city’s culture - museums, architecture, tourist attractions
- 60% valued a great hotel location above all other facilities
- 16% valued space in their hotel room above all other facilities
- 25% miss a home cooked meal most when travelling
- 47% of respondents keep in touch via phone whilst travelling
- 34% of respondents always packed a camera

Key findings:
|
- Travellers are abandoning their addiction to email and shopping whilst on holidays.
- They prefer to keep in touch with phone calls and almost a quarter don’t want to stay in touch at all!
- The most popular activities include; visits to museums and reading books as opposed to shopping.
- Must have suitcase items were a camera and a good book outranking iPhones and/or BlackBerrys.

The information we have collected will be used to improve each guest experience at each of Medina’s 21 apartment hotels across Australia.
